NYC: From Tourist to Neighbor

March 2019 ~ November 2021

I first visited NYC in my 2nd year of university. I was absolutely starstruck by the city – the overwhelming business, the tiny blocks, and the diversity of the people and foods available. As a complete and total tourist, I checked off many of the must-sees, including the World Trade Center memorial, Times Square, the Met, and the Chelsea Market ~ My personal favorite and highlight, was seeing “Puffs” and off-Broadway Harry Potter musical that was both hilarious and wonderfully engaging!

After I moved to northern New Jersey, NYC became a place I could go for the day. It took braving the public transportation system and praying for no delays on the train, but it was definitely doable. But the funny thing is, being close to such a massive city doesn’t make you go out more often – it still seems like a trip needing mental and physical preparation. But, very conveniently for me, I had a travel-loving friend visit nearly every month – pulling me back into the city.

Enjoying the Highline ~ And the Strand Bookstore!

My 2nd trip to the Met!

Due to the ongoing pandemic, I have not taken advantage of my convenient location as much as I wanted to. But seeing as things seem (fingers crossed) to be settling down, I look forward to continuing my small adventures in NYC!
